Student Interview: Naim
Naim moved from Malaysia to study architecture at the University of East London, which makes him possibly the best placed resident we have to judge a city of buildings. Ten months into life at Beaumont House, he told us how he spends his spare time, why he chose Beaumont House and the one skill he thinks every new student should learn.
“Beaumont House has great kitchens and cooking for yourself will help to save money.”

The interview
What are you studying and where?
I’m studying Architecture at the University of East London and have been living at Beaumont House for 10 months now.
What’s your favourite thing to do in London in your spare time?
I like to visit exciting buildings. As I’m studying architecture, I find the old and modern buildings around London fascinating, so I like to visit as many as I can. Naim’s building spotting starts on the doorstep. Our guide to living in West London covers the area’s landmarks and everything around them.
What made you choose Beaumont House for your accommodation?
I found out about Beaumont House through a friend who lives here. It has great management, it’s in a great location and it’s clean.
Did you find it easy to make friends at Beaumont House?
Yes, everyone here is really friendly.
What’s your number one tip for a student moving to London?
To learn to cook! Beaumont House has great kitchens and cooking for yourself will help to save money.
From the team
An architecture student who spends his free time visiting buildings is exactly who you want reviewing where you live, and Naim’s verdict came down to management, location and cleanliness. His parting advice costs nothing to follow: learn to cook, because the kitchen is where London gets affordable.
This conversation, like all our student interviews, is with a real Beaumont House resident, and his answers are published in his own words. We ask the questions, our students say what they think. And if you live at Beaumont House and want to share your story, let us know and we’ll put the kettle on.
